Overview:
Embark on a life-changing adventure with Smile for Charity as we summit Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, via the renowned Machame Route. Over the course of six days, you'll traverse diverse landscapes, from lush rainforests to rugged alpine deserts, culminating in an awe-inspiring sunrise from the summit of Uhuru Peak.
TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1:
Day 1: Arrival in Moshi
- Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
- Transfer to your hotel in Moshi.
- Meet your guide and fellow climbers for a pre-climb briefing.
- Relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Day 2:
Day 2: Machame Gate (1,800m) to Machame Camp (3,000m)
- After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate for registration.
- Begin the trek through lush rainforest, encountering diverse flora and fauna.
- Reach Machame Camp, set amidst the towering trees.
- Enjoy dinner and overnight camping at Machame Camp.
Day 3:
Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,840m)
- Ascend through the rainforest, entering the moorland zone.
- Trek to Shira Camp, where you'll be greeted with panoramic views of the Shira Plateau.
- Settle in for the night at Shira Camp.
Day 4:
Day 4: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp (3,950m)
- Trek across the Shira Plateau, passing through rocky terrain and volcanic formations.
- Ascend to Lava Tower (4,630m), providing stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
- Descend to Barranco Camp, nestled in the picturesque Barranco Valley.
- Overnight camping at Barranco Camp.
Day 5:
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp (4,673m)
- Conquer the Barranco Wall, a thrilling scramble offering breathtaking views.
- Trek across alpine desert terrain to Barafu Camp, the final base before the summit.
- Rest and prepare for the summit push.
- Overnight camping at Barafu Camp.
Day 6:
Day 6: Summit Day - Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Mweka Camp (3,100m)
- Begin the ascent to Uhuru Peak before dawn, guided by the light of your headlamp.
- Reach Stella Point (5,685m) at sunrise, where you'll witness the spectacular dawn over the African plains.
- Continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, and celebrate your achievement.
- Descend to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest.
- Overnight camping at Mweka Camp.
Day 7:
Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate - Departure
- Descend through lush rainforest, savoring the sights and sounds of the vibrant ecosystem.
- Arrive at Mweka Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificates.
- Transfer back to your hotel in Moshi for a celebratory dinner and overnight stay.
